Portal by the shores of the golden river...
Visual contemplation of the final journey we all will need to make some
day lend meaning to this image which was captured quite close to heaven
here on this earth, the Chesapeake Bay.
And at the time of my journey may it be with the sound of wind moving
through bamboo thickets for I'm told that sound makes symphony
orchestras seem impotent. And may it be with peace and joy that I greet
that sound.
If the Almighty offers me grace at my departure, may I be by a golden
river here on this side when I cross to the other for then it will be a
sunset to sunrise journey. And may the night journey of the soul to the
other world be brief, a twinkle of the Eternal One's eye would suffice,
me thinks.
But then, why should my journey begin at sunset for I am a morning
person? ...because the metaphor works better the other way.
