Easter

This morning I led worship at Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster, and this was my call to worship ---

"It was a pinch-me moment. Life had been so energized after Jesus arrived on the scene. But now he was dead and his body lay in a tomb. So began Easter morning for Mary Magdalene…

I understand Mary’s need for contemplation of the events that have unfolded. I, too, have shed tears at the doorway of what was. Transitions, such as our recent move to Lancaster, unsettle the anchors of life. Trying to sort it all out, one tends to look back at times like these. Where we have come from is a known reference point. Where we are headed is the unknown challenge of this moment in time.

But, as for Mary, discovery lies ahead. One needs to hear the Master call our name. One needs to have our eyes and heart opened. And so this morning, I invite you to travel along on the path from room to tomb and back again."

For our Easter dinner, the red tulips Lin had lined down the middle of our dining room table were framed in the front door window. They were my anchor, a known reference point at this time of change. It felt wonderful to center my lens on them.
