elephant-ears-petunia.jpg

Two being placed together in a layered blend...texture and color complementing one another.

The purple petunias surviving, actually thriving, in the fall. Deep royal color filling spaces in the mulched earth of Olivia's flower bed. And the huge leaves of a friend's elephant ears plant bring memories of my grandmother where they grew outside her kitchen window when I was a young child.

From Art & Fear: Observations On The Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles & Ted Orland --- "...the far greater danger is not that the artist will fail to learn anything from the past, but will fail to teach anything new to the future."

Not intending to reinvent the artist wheels of the past,
