coleus-kaleidoscope.jpg

Coleus Kaleidoscope...more on the theme of edges. Yes, the center is out of focus.

Coleuses seems have nearly as many cultivated varieties as day lilies. This one? Probably the variety, Bada Bing.

Although coleus will usually survive in sun, the color of the leaves is enhanced in the shade. At the cottage they thrive in the sun of the flower bed by the driveway. As is my preference, I photographed them on an overcasted morning.

btw, one of these plants also resides under the hibiscus tree in the pot on our front stoop. I have an impression that it was placed there by our friend Chris while she was nursing the plant back to life after Amy's wedding. Thanks, Chris, you sure do have that touch with plants.

Something there is about the geometric possiblities of kaleidoscopes.

Might it be the illusion of order?

Or about childhood memories of Grandma's flower beds.
