Why does red attract our attention so?

It caught my eye originally as I stared down into the undulating water at the edge of the beach.

It was the single red leaf's comings and goings that intrigued...mesmerizing as it sailed into view and then drifted out again.

The bubbles came and dissolved in changing formation. Captured in time they provided the frame for the central figure...the red leaf.

And now upon viewing the image, there comes smiles of recognition with sounds of satisfaction.
