Weekend tulips

It all began this past weekend. The newly planted tulips had reached their peak. Actually if one looked closely they were passing through their prime.

First it was in the setting sun on Friday night as I mowed the lawn at the cottage (see the previous two images). And then it was this one Sunday morning after it rained all night. If you have been following my images for a some time now, you will know how I love waterdrops on flowers, or waterdrops on leaves (step back to a previous image for a recent example). I may need to gather these images into a collection known as "After the Rain."

On Monday I created several compositions of this particular tulip and couldn't decide which was the one to share. Although a compromise, the triptych seemed to incorporate the best of them all, and it may still appear here sometime soon. However, this time it was the duo that won out. I do love what happens in the blended overlapping areas of the petals and the pattern of the out-of-focus leaf in the background.

Why does there always need to be "the one?"
